Transport emissions

.1
A quarter of EU gas emissions
Transport represents almost a quarter of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions and is the main cause of air pollution in cities.
International shipping is a large and growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. We support global action to tackle these emissions.
.2
CO2 emissions
Passenger cars and trucks are respectively responsible for around 40% and 34% of total EU emissions of carbon dioxide (CO₂), the main greenhouse gas driving climate change.
Aviation is one of the fastest-growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions. We want to reduce aviation emissions in Europe and beyond.
.3
Fuel quality
Fuels used for road transport in the EU have to meet strict quality requirements to protect human health and the environment.
The Fuel Quality Directive applies to:
– petrol, diesel and biofuels used in road transport
– gasoil used in non-road-mobile machinery.
CLEAN ENERGY
Hydrogen is an energy carrier.
Hydrogen is an energy carrier with great potential for clean, efficient power in stationary, portable and transport applications. It is envisaged as a significant element of the future fuel mix for transport, enhancing energy security, reducing oil dependency, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
More tips
Reducing dependence on fossil fuels is a priority for the future.
Energy is the commodity that fuels the economy. The EU’s prosperity and security depend on a stable and affordable energy supply.
Improve the usable of renewable energy.
Solar and wind needs to storage and hydrogen could be storage for long time.
Increase the green solution.
The transport sector constantly growing and we need a sustainble solution.
